Traditional New Year's Torch Parade from the Mount Lussari

The absolute highlight of the New-Years celebrations in the Tarvisio Region is the traditional “Fiaccolata del Monte Lussari” (torch parade from the Holy Mount of Lussari). In recent years it has become a true must under the local population and the tourists and guests of the valley. The parade runs along the whole “Di Prampero” slope down to Camporosso, where it is joyfully welcomed by the spectators with ovations and applause in a very cheerful atmosphere.
It is one of the main winter events of the region Friuli Venezia Giulia.
A group of skiers – which is increasing every year –  dressed with traditional local costumes starts at about 6 pm from the Mount Lussari down to the valley in Camporosso, where they are received with a long applause and ovations. You can smell the fragrant smell of the warm “Glühwein” wine drink and of the crackling fire in the big bonfire (made of the torches) situated in the middle of the feast site.
The whole  town of Camporosso is festively decorated for this occasion: the main street is animated the whole day by coloured stands offering handicrafts and gastronomic products.
The crowning moment are the big fireworks, made to wish all guests and spectators a Happy New Year.
